Racial Harmony Day

Kheng Cheng School commemorated Racial Harmony Day through a host of meaningful and fun-filled activities. Students turned up in school donned in their brightly coloured ethnic costumes representing the multi-racial groups in Singapore.

Booths were set up by teachers to share with the students the practices unique to the various races. The students had a special treat where they got to sample food from the various cultures. Students tasted a range of delicacies such as nachos topped with cheese, ‘tang yuan’ and Peranakan otah-otah. It was an enjoyable day as the students bonded through playing games like ‘five stones’ and ‘capteh’. Students learned to appreciate the diversity and importance of harmony among the different races.

Look! I can pick up marbles using a chopstick.

Sandwich Making

The Primary 1 students had fun making sandwiches. This is the Modified Learning Experience Approach (MLEA) based on the STELLAR Big Book 'The Hungry Giant'. Students then proceeded to write a class dictated story based on their experience.
Let's spread the butter first!

Our sandwich is almost ready!

Mmmm....Yummy!

Cutting the sandwich requires skill and concentration!

Let's see...what should I add next?

We just can't wait to eat the sandwiches!
We take turns to spread the butter

This is so fun!

Look at our sandwiches!

Say CHEESE...!

Let's get started!

Success!

I'm going to do this again at home!

P1 - P5 Buddy Program

The P1-P5 Buddy Programme was held on the 2nd week of Term 1. During the three days, every P1 student was assigned a P5 buddy during recess time. This programme gave our P5 students an opportunity to develop and acquire a sense of responsibility towards their fellow school-mates. The P5 students learnt about relationship management through communicating, providing help and working cooperatively with their P1 friends. It was with their commitment and tremendous help that our young P1 students learnt to purchase food during recess, handle money and most of all settle down happily into their big school. The P1 students enjoyed themselves and became good friends with their buddies. At the end of the programme, our P1 students made thank you cards and presented them to their buddies as a token of appreciation.
